Dr. Anthony messina
Dr. Anthony M. Messina serves as Assistant Director of Bands, Assistant Director of the Marching Illini, and Assistant Director of the Fighting Illini Athletic Bands at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where his responsibilities include assisting with the 375-member Marching Illini, and conducting the Hindsley Symphonic Band, Women’s Basketball Band, and Volleyball Band. Stephen is a senior studying broadcast journalism at the University of Illinois, and is from Buffalo Grove, Illinois When not talking about bands on the podcast or playing trumpet in the Marching Illini and Fighting Illini Athletic Bands, he manages the Fighting Illini fan site, The Champaign Room, announces Illinois hockey games on WPGU 107.1 FM, and does some sports broadcasting work for the Big Ten Network's Student U program.

MaryAllison is a junior from Naperville, IL; studying English and Rhetorical Communication, while also pursuing a minor in Criminology, Law and Society. This will be her third season in the Marching Illini as a member of the Illinettes Dance Team. Although she might not be an instrumentalist in the band, she is very excited to be a part of the podcast team, as music and talking are two of her favorite things!

Kaitlyn Nelson is a senior in Instrumental Music Education and pursuing an Art Minor at the University of Illinois. Kaitlyn hails from Plainwell, MI and attended Plainwell High School. She studies Saxophone with the Professor Debra Richtmeyer. She is a section leader for the Tenor
Saxophone section of The Marching Illini and is also part of other athletic
bands, such as volleyball band and Men’s basketball band. She plays
saxophone for Hindsley Symphonic Band. Kaitlyn has been President of
the MI Saxophone Club, is the Editor of SAI, and is a member of KKPsi.
She studied art and Italian in Verona, Italy her junior year and in her free
time enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends.
Emmett O’Brien is currently a sophomore from Elmhurst, Illinois, studying Music Education. He currently studies trumpet with Ronald Romm and Charles Daval. Emmett is very active on campus, participating in the Marching Illini, the Fighting Illini Athletic Bands, Kappa Kappa Psi, and NAfME.
